My name is Peter Kaae Schmidt, and I help companies get a handle on projects – often the difficult ones.
As a project manager, I support organizations in creating progress and finding solutions when complexity rises and the pressure is on. With an engineering background and over 30 years of experience – both in large organizations and as an independent consultant – my core strength lies in bringing structure and clarity to technical projects, without losing sight of the people involved.
I approach each assignment with calm, curiosity, and decisiveness. I don’t lose momentum when things get messy – quite the opposite. I thrive in projects where there is a need to get a handle on direction, roles and frameworks.
This doesn’t necessarily mean I need to lead the entire project – sometimes it’s about getting the collaboration to work better, other times about regaining momentum. I take responsibility for the technical aspects, the leadership dimension, and the governance needed to keep the project on course. And if the client has their own methods and models, I’m happy to work within those – it usually makes the most sense.
Outside of work, I train dogs – both my own and as a dog trainer. It may sound like an odd combination, but it has taught me a lot about leadership and collaboration: it requires patience, clarity, trust, and consistency. I bring those lessons into my daily work. For me, leadership is not about control, but about creating a sense of belonging – built on trust, direction and mutual respect.
Clients and partners describe me as a good listener, analytical, and goal-oriented. I’m not afraid to ask the questions that haven’t been asked yet – and I often see where we need to go before everyone else is fully aligned. I’m the kind of person who goes the extra mile to make things succeed – while keeping a cool head and steady pace when the pressure is highest.
When I’m not working, I’m often out in nature – with the dogs, on a hunt, or simply enjoying a walk in the forest. It clears my head and gives me fresh perspectives on my work.
If you’re looking for a project manager who combines strong professional skills with a human touch – and who isn’t afraid to step in when things get tough – let’s have an informal chat.
I’m based in Randers and mainly take on assignments within driving distance. Not just for practical reasons – but also because my dogs expect me home for dinner.
